About IIC
Ministry of Education has established Innovation Cell (MIC) to nurture novelty at Higher Educational Institutes. In the year 2018, MIC launched the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) program in association with AICTE for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to stimulate innovation. Each of the participating institutes were tasked to set up IIC and carry out the recommended activities.
The main directive of the MIC is to embolden, motivate and foster young students by supporting them to work with original notions and transform them into prototypes while they are in their formative years. We are pleased to declare that IIC-SMIT-PGCMS was established in 2023.

Aim
- Involve teachers and scholars in various innovation and entrepreneurship linked undertakings such as Ideation, Problem Solving, Proof of Concept Development, Design Thinking, IPR, Project Handling and Management.
- Organize regular workshops or seminars or collaborations with entrepreneurs, investors, specialists to generate a mentor pool for students interested in innovations.
- Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
- Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations.
- Create an Institution’s Innovation portal to highlight pioneering projects carried out by institution’s faculty and students.
Major emphasis of IIC
- To build an effervescent home-grown innovation ecosystem.
- Start-up supporting mechanism in HEIs.
- Prepare institute for Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements Framework.
- Establish practical ecosystem for seeking ideas.
- Cultivate superior perceptive aptitude for scholars.
